…or branch, in this case! Alex came to meet with me a few months ago. When we sat down she told me she was doing a bird theme and I instantly said, “take a look at this!” I had designed these cute little love birds sitting on a branch and really wanted to use them on Alex’s invite too. She loved them, just as much as I did and combine that with her green and blue color scheme…with a touch of deep pink…and the result is a cute and touching invitation. We can’t wait to work on the wedding day accessories for Alex and Stephen! Enjoy!

Birds on a Wire…
Spring Green!
On such a beautiful day like today, I wanted to share and invitation design that makes me think of Spring being just around the corner! Erinne and Brian are getting married this April in Baltimore and wanted an invitation that incorporated their green and brown color scheme. I love this clover green pocket and the swirl designs at the bottom of the invitation…reminds me of growing grass! Enjoy and hope tomorrow is just as beautiful as today!

Valentine DIY Project
As I was working on this craft project for the twins’ Valentines Day party at school, I thought it would be the perfect DIY project to share with all of you. It’s such a cute little gift to give to a friend, child or even teacher. And, I figured I would share it now, so you can work on them this weekend! :) Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at Allison Barnhill Designs!

What you will need:
1 1/2 inch clay pot
1 1/2 inch styrofoam ball
green shred or basket fill
craft glue (styro glue or tacky glue)
round, flat lollipop
pink, red or purple cardstock
green cardstock
glue stick or glue dots
What to do:
1. Take a small amount of paper shred/basket fill and roll the shred in your hand to make a small ball. Set it aside with clay pot and sytrofoam ball.
2. Put a line of craft glue around the middle of the styro foamball and place into the clay pot.
3. Cover the top of the styrofoam ball with craft glue and place the rounded shred onto the top of the styrofoam.
4. Press down the shred into the glue and tuck ends into the edge of the clay pot
5. Draw or print a double sided leaf shape onto the green cardstock.
6. Draw or print a heart shape onto the pink/red/purple cardstock. You can even handwrite a note or love note to your Valentine!
7. Cut out the leaf shape and heart
8. Glue the heart to the back of the lollipop until a glue stick or glue dots. Put glue or glue dots on leaf shape and fold around lollipop stick and glue together.
9. Push the lollipop stick into the middle of the flower pot and into the styrofoam ball
And, now you have the perfect Valentine to share with your special someone! Enjoy!
And the WINNER is….
M&M, otherwise known as Matt & Morgan!
Before I get into why M&M won our very first 100 pocketfold invitation giveaway, let me first say that we had a wonderful time reading all of your submissions. We had a flurry of entries on the last day of the contest, which made our decision so much harder! We loved every single submission and really wanted to give everyone something…so we did!
Cindy & Jeffrey are our runner ups! And, we also have special, custom designed thank you notes for all of our other contestants…we used your inspiration boards to create something perfect for you too! All contestants should have received an email from us with their winning details this morning.
And, now onto more about our winners…we just loved how Matt and Morgan’s inspiration board spoke to us…perhaps it was the fact that their colors are black and white with a burst of bright pink. {I had a black and white wedding, so I have a soft spot…} Or, it could be that the photos that they shared really told us a story of what they want on their big day. I loved the pink cupcakes with silver dragees and the martini glass with the signature drink is so striking. And, throw in the candlelight, roses and the perfect pink shoes…well, we were sold. Really, my whole team just fell in love with this inspiration board…so voila…winners!
Here’s the winning board…I hope M&M don’t mind me sharing their inspiration…we hope it inspires you too! Now onto designing the perfect pocketfold invitation to match Matt & Morgan’s wedding. Until our next giveaway…stay inspired!
