As Seen In :: Southern Weddings

Such a Happy Memorial Day! Our Mountain Whimsy inspiration photo shoot was featured on Southern Weddings’ blog today. We are so proud, excited and basically over the moon, that Emily, Lara and team chose our shoot to feature today.

We couldn’t have done this shoot without the phenomonal team of Elizabeth and Ryan from Elizabeth Ryan Photography. (psst…and Ryan was kind enough to be our model groom…so he gets another “thank you”.

Check out the Southern Weddings blog post here!

And, here are a few pictures that we wanted to share from the shoot too. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the beautiful Amie Decker from Amie Decker Beauty….who was our model bride.

Gossip :: Brooch Bouquets

Okay, so some of you might know that I love to read…it’s an addiction really…so in addition to the 100 books on list to read, I also get three gossip magazines delivered to my door every week.  Yes, US Weekly, People and In Touch grace my mailbox every Friday and I try to squeeze in 20 minutes to read them.

This week US Weekly has a feature on Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s wedding…to my sheer and utter happiness, Miranda had a brooch bouquet!  Now, some of you know my affinity for brooch bouquets…I love the history, beauty and longevity of this style of bouquet and even used it in my last inspiration shoot.  Thanks to the awesome team at Intrigue Design and Decor for putting it together…below is a pic of it too!

But what I loved even more about Miranda’s bouquet was how she collected all of the brooches!  She said that every brooch in her bouquet was given to her at her shower by friends and family.  Amazing!  This would be such an fun theme for a bridal shower…friends and family could pick out brooches that mean something to them…perhaps they searched high and low for the perfect color, or a mom passes along a grandmother’s brooch.  Each guest could share the story at the shower…and maybe pass along a note with the meaning of the brooch.  So, without further ado, here is a picture of Miranda and Blake…and her bouquet in the bottom right corner.  Love it!

Megan & Chris :: Real Wedding :: Paradise!

I’m so excited to share these pictures from a gorgeous real wedding in paradise! Megan and Chris were married on May 14th in Playa de Carmen, Mexico. We had the pleasure of designing their invitation and also, all of their wedding day paper too! Megan was one of those brides who knew what she wanted and it really helped move along the process. She was savvy on colors and patterns and was very involved in ensuring her vision came to life.

We started with their formal invitation that had a charcoal grey theme with brocade patterned cardstock. The paper took a fun turn for the wedding day, where we used the same brocade pattern cardstock, but in a bright yellow-orange color. All of the wedding day elements, just came together perfectly…from the table numbers, to the place card tags that were tied onto starfish, to my personal favorite, the recipe booklet for a favor! I’m still droolling over the recipes in this book…and have to admit…I stole one for myself.

So, feel free to drool over these pictures too…of Megan and Chris’ wedding in paradise! Enjoy!

Crabbing for Invitations

So, it was a beautiful weekend in Annapolis and of course, my kids wanted to go crabbing at our marina. Well, I decided this was the perfect time to photograph some of my invitations. So while the kids were dropping their lines with their dad, I was hunting down the perfect spots to take pics. All of a sudden, I hear, “we got one!” and my daughter comes running down the dock. She says, “Dad wants to know if you want to take a picture of an invite with the crab.” Well, yes, I would, thank you very much! So below are some shots of this very crabby invitation…with the perfect companion! And, yes, the crab was very much alive and was just a wonderful model. He swam away…eagerly…to his next gig! Enjoy!
